2.2% of the American population are diagnosed on the autism spectrum with the prevalence of autism rising in various states across the country. Arizona is one of the states that is slowly making its way towards the top of the autism-friendly league, with the state’s capital city, Phoenix, gaining a reputation for being an “autism-friendly” location in 2022.
However, one has to wonder, is the Phoenix Metropolitan Area is or isn’t autism-friendly? If it is welcoming towards people on the autism spectrum, then why? Why is Phoenix an autism-friendly city, how is it autism-friendly, and what exactly is the city doing in order to help those who are on the spectrum?
